A WINNING WEB SITE...

...IS KEPT CURRENT!
  • Outdated information, broken links or pages that load too slowly are a major turn off to visitors.   Being able to USE and FIND information easily is more important than fancy bells and whistles (like Flash and audio files) that usually make a web site load slowly and make a visitor wait and wait and wait.   Hint:  That "Skip Intro" button is there for a reason.
  • Regular maintenance of a web site is key to keeping a web site current and user friendly.  Remember, web sites EVOLVE and regular maintenance can turn it into your most powerful marketing tool.

...HAS A SIMPLE CHECKOUT FOR CUSTOMERS!
  • At least 40 percent of shopping carts are abandoned before checkout, often because the process takes too long or the customer begins to doubt the reliability of the web site and/or the business.
  • Successful sites with e-commerce make checkout simple and provide clear pricing and shipping information (if applicable).
  • Customers often look for clear information on how to access customer service, a posted return policy and an "About Us" page with background on the company.

...MAKES BUYING SAFE AND SECURE!
  • Accepting credit cards online is a virtual necessity for a web site to be successful.  In fact, that's how 95 percent of online consumer transactions are made. You'll need an Internet merchant account, a payment gateway and a secure connection to assure customers that their credit card information is safe.
  • Or, you can set up online payments through a third-party service such as PayPal.

WORDS FOR CHANGE...
When You Want Something You Have Never Had,
You Have Got To Do Something You Have Never Done.

How to get what you want in life...

Part 1 : Take a step back

Take a look at yourself - inside and out.

Where do you live, what job do you have, how do you relate to your friends and family? What interests do you pursue, what adventures do you have?

What do you truly want from life? Do you want wealth and success, happiness and peace of mind? Do you want a family and a garden, a yacht or a sports car? Where are you going? Do you have a particular goal or are you just wandering through life?

You can accomplish anything you want in life - that's true.  Once you have a particular goal, you can fulfill that desire by straightforward commitment and total conviction.

But what if you don't know what you want? Maybe your goals are small ones - like losing some weight, or buying a new car.

Maybe getting a promotion or finding a mate. Whether you want a house or want to be a CEO, any avenue of prosperity and achievement is open to you if it is truly what you want.

No goal is too small; no dream is too big. And even if you aren't clear on your desires, you can tap into your subconscious mind to get the answers and to find the paths to success.

Can you change your life - do you want to? Can you picture yourself as your most perfect image of accomplishment? How does it feel?

If you have the desire to attain goals, the commitment to follow through and the ability to creatively imagine yourself in the position you dream of, you are more than halfway there.

The most successful leaders and artists throughout history have followed specific paths and attained their hearts' desires. Keep an open mind and a hopeful outlook - then change your thinking.

Put on the clothes of success.

Act as though you already have accomplished your desires. Then let the reality catch up.

WHAT DO YOU WANT?

Take a choice: money, health, physical energy, beauty, creativity, recognition, power, adventure, contentment, achievement, self-expression, authority, love, peace of mind, enlightenment. Would you like any of these?

If you are like most people today, you probably want ALL of these.

But if you search your true desires, you might find that there are a few things you want more than others. And, if you keep going in your search, you'll find one desire that has been with you your whole lifetime and is the one path you need to follow.

Although money is the obvious desire, it is usually not the final goal. Indeed, money can, and does buy happiness - up to a point.

Once you have enough money to be financially secure or to purchase the material objects you want, the true desire might be something else.

Love is the goal of every person's heart. Whether it is love of a mate, or a family, or respect and recognition from peers and fellow workers, love is the ageless pursuit. The mystics say that love is the sole purpose of life- to give love and to find it.

But love comes in many forms. Not only is there the overt display of affection or true inner feelings, but there is the self-respect and inner contentment that goes with accomplishment. For some people, true peace of mind will never be attained until they complete some creative tasks or achieve certain heights in business.

Many people seek the authority that comes with a good position in a job. Along with that can come recognition and fame.

Although you may want the money that is associated with high management levels, many people simply seek that satisfaction of working from the inner circles.

The goal of every person regardless of background and material desires, is good health.

A sound body is the gift that will get you to the other goals. Even a new diet and exercise plan can give you more energy - the energy you'll need to accomplish success.

Adventure and travel is a driving force for many people. They may seek jobs that involve travel, or they may be looking forward to taking time off to visit the other side of the world. If you don't want a long journey, perhaps you'd just like a few weeks in a sunny resort or the luxury of a summer and winter holiday each year.

And then there is creativity and self-expression. What about the book you're going to write or the dance class you'd like to take?

Creative expression is a wonderful inner release that boosts confidence and gives you something to accomplish.

Finally, regardless of wealth and health, expression and love, everyone is looking for peace of mind.

That's not to say emptiness of mind, but to be rid of petty worries and confusion, to be finished with fears and live in total awareness. It surely is the ultimate lifetime goal.

DON'T BE AFRAID TO MAKE MISTAKES!
LEARN FROM YOUR PAST!

Don't beat yourself up about what's happened in the past.

I know.  Easier said than done.

Experiences and events that have happened in your past have contributed to your level of confidence and self-esteem.

Two people can go through the same experience, but one is confident and one isn't.  Why?  Because you use what has happened in your past to you get through new moments in life.

People with lots of confidence learn the lessons from past expereinces and shake it off, rather than dwell on them and let them get them down.

There are no failures.  Only OUTCOMES!  That could be an academic language euphemism,
But it's true, depending on your perspective.

Flip your perspective and...

Failure becomes an OPPORTUNITY!

....an opportunity to learn from your mistakes and evaluate the situation.  Why use a negative word like "failure?"  Whatever you do in life there are inputs and outputs and there are no failures.  Just outcomes.  We like euphemisms, they work well and keep us inspired!

"If you are not making any mistakes, you are not doing anything."

...because real winners in life DO make mistakes.

Winners, however, learn from those mistakes and learn how to avoid them next time.

Losers usually give up when the going gets tough.  I know someone who took the CBEST exam 29 times, before he passed on the 30th and last time, so he could substitute teach in Los Angeles,
Each time he failed (or didn't pass), he learned  that there were areas that he needed to study and made sure he didn't make THOSE mistakes again.

Amazingly, he didn't repeat the same mistakes twice...but he did keep finding new ways to fail the test.  This was a lesson in life for him.  Whenever he found out the results of his test, he felt so low, that he became determined to pass that test!   He showed up for each test wiser and more knowledgeable.

He kept going back until he finally passed the CBEST.  The 30th test resulted in the test administrator saying, "This is  the best CBEST score I've seen in a long time."

Just think, if he got down on himself to the extent that he never retook the test early in his test taking career, he would not be Teaching today.

Hey, some people are at different levels, but the principle is the same.

DON'T GIVE UP and...DON'T BE AFRAID TO FAIL.

In your quest for success, no matter what it is, you will make mistakes in the process.

It will make things a whole lot easier and less frustrating if you acknowledge from jump street that you wil make mistakes and that it's all a part of the learning curve.

Timeless Beauty
ARE YOU STUCK?
Fear of Failure.  Avoidance of Pain.

People's fear of success stems from their fear of failure...which is also an avoidance of pain.  People will do almost any thing to avoid pain and rejection.  They would rather sacrifice the possibility of achievement, wealth and fame, than risk making any mistakes.  Many would rather avoid failure so much, that they do nothing to avoid the pain that failure surely brings.

Too many people emphasize and focus on their weaknesses, rather than their strengths.  Most of us are programmed negatively to expect failure instead of success.

After you've imagined the reasons you can't succeed, you wouldn't even have the strength to try to accomplish your goals.

We all hate to be embarrassed and we can't stand being made a fool of in front of others.  I deal with that possibility everyday with the students in my classroom.   For fear of being embarrassed students who know the answers will not speak up for fear of being wrong.  They don't realize that as a Substitute, I'm depending on their guidance, somewhat, or at least some trustworthy student(s) to bail me out, because half the time their teacher has not left clear iinstructions, the kids say, "We already did that!" or I can't find the right information so I'm flying by the seat of my pants to get through the first 2 periods of the day.  After period 2, either I've figured out what is going on or I fake it and make up my own "plan" to get through the rest of the day.  Talk about acting!

Fear holds people back and causes them to PROCRASTINATE.

When success comes within reach, fear of the unknown propels fear-filled losers right back into their comfort zone of old, self-defeating waysIt's because we have been programmed to think that way.  We have to fight against the bad programming!

Most people want to stay in their comfort zone.   Because it's...comfortable.

Successful people push straight through those fears, move closer to their goals, then on to bigger and better things.

They break out of their comfort zones and develop new ones.  And new beliefs to go with them.

What new beliefs are YOU going to adopt?
